tuiss Love :: Abigail Ahern

Abigail Ahern is a stylist and interior designer with a mix and match style all of her own. Abigail is often inspired by Alice in Wonderland and loves to play and experiment with scale.

Abigail’s blog is a fantastic way to get a peek into her eclectic vibe and make it seem all very obtainable in your own home. Be just like Abigail and throw the rule book out, just be careful of creating a junk shop look though…..unless that’s just the look that you were after of course!

My interior style is… really eclectic. I try and throw the rule books out and play with different periods, textures and styles. Experimenting and playing with colour is a huge part of my style.

tuiss Love :: Alyssa Ettinger

tuiss Love is drawn to ceramics, remember the seed safe, notepad or the keys we’ve blogged about?.

Here it’s all about Alyssa Ettinger who threw her first pot at summer camp when she was 14-years-old. Alyssa works out of a studio in an old warehouse in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. She’s branched out to include slip-casting and hand-building in her designs.

We love the knitted look on the vase and the homely light cast by the votives is a simple but beautiful sight.

tuiss Love :: Newbloodart

Newbloodart is undiscovered art online. The website features artwork from artists at the start of their career so pieces are reasonably priced from £50, and for bigger pockets, up to £3000.

All artistic medias are featured including photography, drawings, oils, charcoal and sculpture. The great thing about this site is that you can search for art by price, size, media as well as subject. And there are some gorgeous pieces of art too!

tuiss Love :: Bodie and Fou

Flick through any interiors magazine and you’re bound to come across the fabulous Bodie and Fou. It’s a memorable name and it was, and is the dream of two chic and stylish French sisters. The result is a fabulous website with an inspiring collection of accessories and furniture.

Naturally there’s a blog too which gives a lovely little glimpse into the lives of Elodie (Bodie) and Karine (Fou).

Bodie and Fou is a chic, inspiring online boutique for design-lovers in search of cool modern styling for the home & unique, beautiful gifts.

tuiss Love :: The Beat that my heart skipped

tuiss loveIt’s so nice to find a blog that’s written in the UK. This blog is on my ‘favourites’ bookmark and I have to say that the name alone would make it a favourite.

The blog is a wonderful mix of great images and brilliant writing, covering everything from design and food to books and places.

The Beat That My Heart Skipped covers interviews with creatives, product reviews, book reviews, trend guides, travel write ups, delicious recipes and all things inspirational.

tuiss Love :: Barefoot kitchen

tuiss loveIf you fancy having an escape for ten minutes then visit Barefoot Kitchen, their quote says it all.

Check out the lovely things they sell as well as great videos of foraging (yes foraging), cooking on the beach and surfing too.

We love where we live. We still have to weather the storms that life throws at us, but the land, sea and sky are all we really need. Building a fire on the beach, finding wild samphire, catching mackerel on a hand line, leaving the best wave till last. Mix it all up with friends young and old, some things money just can’t buy.

There’s a blog too with lots of pictures of sunny Cornwall.

tuiss Love :: None such things

tuiss loveNone such things is somewhere ‘between a blog and a shop’ and is a place to find ‘lovely things made by some really fabulous people’.

Amanda the site owner posts a small number of items for sale and when they’re gone they’re gone.

At the moment there’s porcelain keys, pretend petit fours, lace cuffs and a heart bracelet. It’s a wonderful place to visit for a look at the quirky and eclectic. tuiss recommends!

tuiss Love :: Byfords in Holt, Norfolk

This is a personal recommendation from me to you.

I visited Holt in Norfolk a couple of months ago and happenedtuiss love across the most fabulous of places, Byfords, an eatery, deli and ‘posh’ b&b all rolled into one. In their words  “A higgledy piggledy world of pleasure.”.

We sampled the lunchtime menu downstairs in the cellar. The food was amazing and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating, so child friendly too. On the way out it’s almost impossible not to be tempted by the deli, for us it was two pasties for tea!

If tuiss was a place to sit back and relax then I think it would look very much like Byfords. If you’re ever in that area it really is worth a detour.

tuiss Love :: SeedSafe by Marti Guixe at Alessi

tuiss gotuiss lovees wild at the beginning of April so it’s timely that I spotted the SeedSafe designed by Marti Guixe for Alessi.

Here’s the idea, store the seeds from the fruit and vegetables that you eat, store them in the SeedSafe, plant them at your leisure and watch them grow. Easy and maybe fun too!

“Seeds are in some way more valuable than money. Therefore the seed safe is a must in each home. Keep the seeds you get from eating fruits, and then plant them to become a rich person.”

I first spotted this at Lushlee.

tuiss Love :: Blue Marmalade

tuiss loveBlue Marmalade is a great name for a fantastic design outfit based in Scotland. Trent Jennings and Tom Marsh are the founding directors and the Blue Marmalade name reflects their love of British design “and what’s more British than marmalade?” and their unique take on things, hence Blue Marmalade. We love their products which range from the very functional to the truly gorgeous.

Blue Marmalade’s guiding principal is to create and produce products that reflect its designer’s passions: simplicity, fun, functionality & eco – friendliness.

The Bloom lampshade and Polyrap bin are bang on trend with their folded good looks. (Take a peek at Elle’s trend predictions for 2010.) And who wouldn’t love the bi-clip? It’s actually a by-product of making lampshades, genius.
