I have a long list of tuiss Love’s and Anthropologie has been on there for a while. Flicking through this month’s Elle Decoration however I spotted this amazing picture that I just had to share (and hence Anthropologie made it to the top of the pile!). The chair is fashioned from colourful macrame and is perfect for warm summer days and preferably in a Moroccan type setting!

Anthropologie is a hip American retailer offering over 200 women’s fashion brands as well as homeware. The London outlet on Regent Street includes a vertical climbing garden which dominates the sweeping retail space, incorporating 18,000 plants. Worth a visit for gawp factor alone!

It’s getting hot out there (admittedly not today though!) and sales of bottled water will be soaring.

Every year 2 billion litres of bottled water are sold in the UK and only one in five bottles are recycled. The strange thing is though for much of the time we have access to a tap which delivers much much cheaper water and much more environmentally friendly too.

A team of scientists has found that 70 per cent of popular bottled water brands available in shops had high levels of bacteria, so high in fact that they could pose a risk for vulnerable people such as pregnant women, infants, immunocompromised patients and the elderly. Plus nutritionists say there’s no need to drink bottled water in the UK because tap water is so good.

The arguments are stacking up against that bottle! Go on, ditch the bottle and grab a glass…. (We’ve blogged about reusable water bottles too.)

So, how ‘to do’ coastal without looking like a gift shop!

  • Clearly white and cream are key to the scheme and blue is a popular accent colour. Be ever so slightly wary of adding red into the mix, you may end up more union jack than coastal chic!
  • Floors are often either scrubbed or maybe painted. If that’s too cold opt for sisal or coir carpeting.
  • Nick nacks with a coastal theme are a must, think shells, boats, fish, crabs and beachcombed finds.
  • A striped roller blind is a popular choice and ever so slightly nautical.
  • Include lots of texture from wicker baskets and chairs to bobbly throws and heavy rugs.
  • We would say this but wooden blinds at the window will add a fantastic finishing touch for a cool, calm and coastal look.

Abigail Ahern is a stylist and interior designer with a mix and match style all of her own. Abigail is often inspired by Alice in Wonderland and loves to play and experiment with scale.

Abigail’s blog is a fantastic way to get a peek into her eclectic vibe and make it seem all very obtainable in your own home. Be just like Abigail and throw the rule book out, just be careful of creating a junk shop look though…..unless that’s just the look that you were after of course!

My interior style is… really eclectic. I try and throw the rule books out and play with different periods, textures and styles. Experimenting and playing with colour is a huge part of my style.

tuiss Love is drawn to ceramics, remember the seed safe, notepad or the keys we’ve blogged about?.

Here it’s all about Alyssa Ettinger who threw her first pot at summer camp when she was 14-years-old. Alyssa works out of a studio in an old warehouse in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. She’s branched out to include slip-casting and hand-building in her designs.

We love the knitted look on the vase and the homely light cast by the votives is a simple but beautiful sight.
