tuiss photo shoot :: Dark Willow & Mulberry wooden blind

We love getting up close and personal with our blinds! Our regular photo shoots are the perfect chance for us to see our products displayed in all their glory. We’ve just had the proofs back from our recent shoot, just take a look at the fabulous Dark Willow and Mulberry wooden blind, stunning in a shabby chic country kitchen.

We are putting together our look book for autumn/winter which will be filled with equally beautiful shots, look out for it when you next order samples.

by tuiss :: New Tempo venetian blinds

Introducing our new Tempo collection of venetian blinds, we’ve taken a wider 50mm aluminium slat (venetians are usually 25mm) so that a different look can be created at your window.

The wider slats of the Tempo means that the gaps between the slats are also larger, this has a two-fold benefit when the blind is open, firstly more light is allowed into the room and secondly the view to the outside is clearer. The designer looks of the Tempo are finished to perfection with the addition of our exclusive aluminium toggles.

The Tempo is available in select colours; white, cream. silver and black, all colours are available as perforated if you would prefer. Click on an image below or just here if you would like to view all the colours and options.

tuiss Love :: Marram Studios

I love stumbling across gems on the internet and Marram Studios in Orkney is one of them. The studio is all about printed textiles inspired by nature, in fact the studio name is taken from the marram grass which grows on the sandy shores in Orkney.

Each design is hand-printed in small limited runs in the studio workshop, using high quality natural materials such as silk, linen, cotton and wool. I want one of everything!

tuiss Love :: Luna

true-love-smallWe thought we should spread our tuiss Love to one of our favourite Nottingham shops. Luna is THE place to go for retro and vintage furniture, its been on the same site for 20 years so it’s almost an institution in itself. So, if names like Ercol, Panton, Eames and G Plan trip off your tongue it’s a must visit.

The staff at Luna are all very knowledgeable and ready to help, so if you are after 50s, 60s or 70s furniture we do recommend you visit. Just take a look at the shop below, “why wouldn’t you” is all we can say!

If there’s one way of livening up any room, it’s with some vintage furniture.

Thursday thought by tuiss :: Green up your window cleaning

This one really is easy. It must be because I do it myself! Mix up your very own glass or window cleaner in a jiffy.

Save one of those spray bottles then just pour in 1 jug of water and a quarter jug of vinegar. Hey presto your own cleaner.

I particularly like it for cleaning my glass hob and oven door, spray on, rub with scrunched up newspaper then buff with one of those e-cloths.

You will feel incredibly virtuous I guarantee it!

tuiss and Prima magazine

Receiving the post at tuiss has never been so rewarding…

We’ve been running a wee competition with Prima magazine to win some window blinds. Never ever, ever did we expect the sheer number of postcards to hit our doorstep though! Nor did we expect the wonderful variety of postcards, even home-made ones that play tunes!

Those Prima readers certainly know how to send a good postcard! (Apologies for all the exclamation marks!!)

by tuiss :: Tessutto Dusty Teal roman blind

Did you know that the colour teal is named after the common teal, a member of the duck family, whose eyes are surrounded by the colour?

Teal is also one of those ‘new-fangled’ colours that you’re never quite sure if you know what is! (A bit like duck egg – what is it with all these ducks?) If you’re not sure, teal is a medium blue-green colour. Easy!

Teal is loved by many so we are very proud of our new Dusty Teal roman blind which is spot on with its blue-green hue.

Teal works very well either as an accent colour or as the main colour and just to prove it here are some fabulous room shots plus paint and wallpaper that really work that teal tingle. (Just click here to order that teal sample or blind!)
