Wall Murals

In a recent article, it was reported that the Duchess of Cambridge was “green with envy” when she visited Frederik VIII’s Palace during a visit in 2011, and later took interior design tips from Princess Mary for their own home- at Kensington Palace.

Frederik VIII’s Palace is home to some of the most impressive wall murals and artworks, since it’s renovation in 2010, completed by contemporary Danish artists, including Olafur Eliasson.

tuiss Loves :: LS Lowry

Celebrating the works of LS Lowry, Tate Britain is holding an exhibition of his works this summer. Sounds like a perfect way to while away an afternoon to us.

Lowry used a very basic range of colours, which he mixed on his palette and painted on the white background. “I am a simple man, and I use simple materials: ivory, black, vermilion (red), Prussian blue, yellow ochre, flake white and no medium (e.g. linseed oil). That’s all I’ve ever used in my paintings. I like oils… I like a medium you can work into over a period of time”. Looking closely at the surface of Lowry’s paintings shows us the variety of ways he worked the paint with brushes (using both ends), with his fingers and with sticks or a nail.

tuiss love
We love the style of the art work by Freya, the words are inspiring and thought provoking while the beautiful colours are calming and serene. Freya is based in London but divides her time with her ‘little beachside studio in Phillip Island, Australia’. Is there any wonder that her illustrations ooze warmth and a smile?

Her work is one of purity of vision with a forever optimistic view of the world. Her quirky and thought provoking pieces are much loved and sought after and held in many public and private collections around the world.
